The Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy votes tonight on whether or not to give $200,000 to conservationists to develop a plan for a wildlife crossing over the 101 Freeway at Liberty Canyon. The solutions proposed thus far are a subterranean tunnel (the cheaper option at an estimated $10 million) or an overpass. "We absolutely have to connect every mountain range to each other across the freeways, otherwise genetically [species] go stale," says a SMMC official. [SCPR]
