Buy a Baroque Indoor Pool in Malibu For $22.5 Million

New, 17 comments

Attention super-rich, seashell-obsessed True Blood fans: have we got a "natatorium" for you. What is a natatorium? In this case, it's a $22.5-million pool house (with a whole pool inside). This particular pool house, in Malibu, was once part of a whole lavish estate called Villa Contenta, which hit the market back in 2010 asking $75 million and still hasn't sold—it's now asking $23.8 million—despite showing off as a vampire queen's digs in True Blood. But the natatorium alone has all the amenities you could want: 20-foot ceilings, Murano glass tiles in the indoor lap pool, hand-painted murals, shell-covered chandeliers, an additional outdoor infinity pool, and elaborate shell-encrusted detailing throughout. The only thing it doesn't have is a single bedroom. Not one. You're going to have to scrunch up on one of the upholstered benches in the changing rooms or buy an inflatable raft for the pool. Once again, that asking price was $22.5 million.
