Welcome to Cornerspotter, a weekly Curbed game in which you try to identify the location and/or identity of a particular building or streetscape in a historic photograph. Impress us and your fellow Curbed readers with your uncanny insight into Los Angeles and its past!
Imagine the listing for an apartment in the dark building in the foreground of this circa-1938 photo: Overlooks dirt lot. No parking. These days, that dirt lot's a church; there's probably still no parking. The one thing the apartments did have going for them back then was they were near a school. The old building seems to have been demolished, but that school's still around. But enough hints. Think you recognize this intersection? Let us know in the comments!
