Updated 1:26 pm: Ellen DeGeneres is the craziest real estate badass in Los Angeles. This year alone she bought and sold one of the best properties in town in a matter of months, picked up two condos in the Beverly West tower, and now is selling those two condos and re-buying a two-parcel compound from the person she herself sold it to back in 2007. She's crazy! As was rumored back in November, DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi have bought a boomerang-shaped mid-century modern from designer Alexandra Hedison (Jodie Foster's wife), who completely remodeled the place since buying it from DeGeneres in 2007, so really it's like the couple are moving into a totally new house and not the same house they already lived in for a couple years in the mid-aughts. Update: Hedison designed the remodel, but the house was actually owned by an LLC associated with Hedison's ex and Milgard Manufacturing heiress Allison Milgard.
According to the LA Times, DeGeneres paid $10 million for the house and a neighboring property that she also owned back in the aughts (the house alone went for $3,160,625, according to Redfin). The post and beam was built in 1956 and has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a pool, "every imaginable modern convenience," two-car garage, two fireplaces, and built-ins.
Meanwhile, over in Westwood, DeGeneres and de Rossi are selling off their two-condo, full-floor digs at the Beverly West; the south unit (two bedrooms, three bathrooms) is going for $8.495 million and the north (two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms) for $7.495 million. Together they total about 8,000 square feet.
