LA's Great Streets Makeovers Begin With a Sign in San Pedro

New, 7 comments

This past summer, Mayor Eric Garcetti announced the 15 lucky roads that would be at the front of the line to get makeovers under his new Great Streets program. Now the very first of those projects is getting underway in San Pedro. The pedestrian bridge that spans busy Gaffey Street will be outfitted with an *updated "San Pedro" sign with blue lighting, kind of reminiscent of the one in Santa Monica that people like to take their pictures under. "This illustrates the fundamental essence of my Great Streets initiative -- to improve and re-imagine our streets to make them more attractive to residents, shoppers and investors," the mayor says in a statement for the sign unveiling. The sign's first official lighting will be tonight.
