Ever notice there are a lot more bike lanes and events like CicLAvia around these days? Those are good reminders that there are a lot of Angelenos who bike for some or all of their transportation (and recreation) needs. But with bikes comes bike theft and they're a lot more common in some areas—like parts of West LA, Venice, and University Park—than in others, as we can see from this map from HotPads. Some of LA's hotbeds of thievery, like those on and around university campuses, are not surprising, but others are wild cards: the most dangerous place to park your bike theft in West LA appears to be a pretty nondescript parking lot.
