Little Tokyo's wave of construction is rolling along. The 'hood saw the opening of a new apartment complex this year, construction for the Regional Connector's underway, and now it looks like a new mixed-user is in the cards, headed for a surface parking lot just across from Weller Court, says Building LA. Though these planning documents don't mention demolition, the address on Astronaut Ellison S. Onizuka Street used for the project is the same as the cute little Family Mart, suggesting the structure's days might be numbered. The future occupants of the 66-unit apartment building with ground-level retail set to rise here will be a stone's throw away from Little Tokyo institutions like Curry House and Orochon, those lucky ducks.
