Hint: What Fam-Friendly Building Was Looking Rough in 1968?

New, 10 comments

Welcome to Cornerspotter, a weekly Curbed game in which you try to identify the location and/or identity of a particular building or streetscape in a historic photograph. Impress us and your fellow Curbed readers with your uncanny insight into Los Angeles and its past!

This building dates back to the 1880s; its earliest occupants were civic-minded do-gooders, but by the time this photo was taken in 1968, the then-abandoned structure looked like the kind of place you'd hurry past with your head down. Plus, one of its key features had been bricked up. Thankfully it's been restored and stands today as a kind of educational facility. Think you know where this building is or what it is now? Let us know in the comments!
