What You Can Rent for $1,850 in Los Angeles Right Now

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for a certain dollar amount in various LA 'hoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Our friends at Zumper have helped us out with five listings within $100 of today's price: $1,850.

↑ Our journey today begins here, in Eagle Rock, in this two-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bathroom with laminate wood floors, granite counters, and a dishwasher. The apartment's got a lot going for it with a balcony, a pool, and one gated parking space, but it's only got wall-mounted air and heat. The rent here is $1,895.

↑ Some will say that this unit is not in the greatest part of town (at the border of the Toy District and Little Tokyo), but the good part of town and fancy lofts are spreading in this direction; there are even classy burgers less than two blocks away. It's hard to turn your nose up at the "12' Ceilings, Stainless Steel Appliances, Remodeled Bathroom And Shower With Body Jets, Steel Casement Windows, Elegant Maple Hardwood Floors, Central A/C & Heat, Washer/Dryer In Unit" in this 730-square-foot studio. The rent is $1,750.

↑ Did somebody say JACUZZI?! This two-bedroom in Palms did; there's a sweet jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom, lots of storage space, a dishwasher, on-site laundry, granite counters in the kitchen, and parking (though they don't explicitly say it's included in your rent). Rent here is $1,825.

↑ "STUNNING UPPER UNIT" alert: this comely, 1,100-square-foot two-bedroom on the border of Miracle Mile has on-site laundry and one parking spot. The unit is nothing fancy, but it is clean and in a building with a little curb appeal. Monthly rent is $1,895.

↑ This two-story, two-bedroom unit in Van Nuys is light on description, but the bottom line is this is a 1,300-square-foot unit. That's a nice amount of space. It has wood floors (likely laminate), one full bathroom, and a staircase on which to take dramatic photos of your kids before they go off to their first day of school or prom. The building has gated entry and rent is $1,800.
