Like so many things in California, gardens are linked to immigration. "If you think about it, the vast majority of people, plants, even the water have all come from elsewhere," the author of a new book about this relationship tells KPCC. The Huntington Library in San Marino is an obvious example—from the origins of the now-famous gardens to the addition of a new Chinese garden on the grounds financed with help from the Chinese immigrant community.
