There's a bit of movement on a years-in-the-making plan to put a high-rise at Eighth and Catalina in happening Koreatown. The 27-story Catalina Apartments would have 269 apartments, 7,500 square feet of groundfloor commercial space, and 562 parking spaces if its developers can convince the city to make changes to the zoning and height rules for the area. That process will be laborious and time-consuming at best, "with no guarantee of success," but if they are successful, developers could have shovels in the ground by 2016. [BLA, previously]
