Jenny Craig Sold Her Horse Farm to Bill Gates For $18 Million

New, 2 comments

Diet titan Jenny Craig has just sold her equestrian estate in Rancho Santa Fe to Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates for $18 million. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, "he plans to turn into a grand prix circuit for hunters and jumpers," which means a place to have international horse-jumping competitions (in the grand tradition of teen daughters of ultra-rich people, Gates's is a competitive horse-jumper). The Rancho Paseana property is about 228 acres with a three-quarter-mile racetrack, guesthouse and office, olive orchard, five barns, and a vet's suite, the listing agent tells the Wall Street Journal, but Craig shut it down as a horse facility last year. She first listed the place at $30 million, but most recently had it asking $24.995 million; she apparently took a while to find a buyer because she wanted the property to stay horse-centric. Gates also owns a place in nearby San Diego and probably every other city on earth.
