Donald Hensman's Heart-Stopping Domus Solaris Hits The Market On Mulholland Asking $2.4 Million

New, 18 comments

Hello, gorgeous. Sports agent Michael Rielly has apparently decided to depart with the achingly handsome Domus Solaris up top of Mulholland; the house was designed by Donald Hensman (of the great firm Buff & Hensman/Buff, Straub & Hensman) for himself and built in 1975. Rielly bought it in 2005 and quit his long-time job at IMG to dedicate himself to its restoration. It was up for rent in 2010 and now here it is for sale with some brokerbabble you can kind of forgive for getting away from itself a little: "Here architecture positions its occupants in communion with the poet's Sublime: endless sky & mountains, exhilarating height, a chosen solitude shared with wind, sun & air." It comes with one "magisterial" bedroom, one and a half bathrooms, a pool, and "garage framed for an unbuilt second pavilion at entry," which hmmmm. Asking price is $2.4 million.
