Over at Gizmodo, they're exploring the Early Man Site in Calico, California (also home to a ghost town), which might well be an invaluable archaeological find that gives evidence of ancient human settlers 30,000 years ago. It's also possible, though, that it's just "a willfully misinterpreted landscape full of nothing but loose gravel and rocks" that represents archaeologist Louis Leakey's last attempt at being relevant, but you be the judge.
