Hey, Los Angeles now has a list of buildings that could collapse in an earthquake! That could come in handy. University of California researchers have handed over a list of about 1,500 concrete buildings built before 1980—they think about 75 of those could collapse in a large earthquake. The city has known about the threat to these kinds of buildings since the 1971 Sylmar Earthquake, but has never managed to make its own inventory. [LAT]
