The historic Fifth Street branch of the US Post Office (no longer operational) was purchased for an undisclosed amount by the production company that made the films True Grit and World War Z. Built in 1937, the post office closed in June and has been replaced by a new, unpopular one (not enough parking), part of a nationwide plan by the USPS to generate some much-needed cash by selling off some of its properties. The production company will preserve the building, though it's not clear what the plans for the place are after that. [SMDP]
