Downtown is on Fire (not literally), Hollywood Has Some Faults

[Curbed went inside the recently opened Ace Hotel in Downtown LA. Full gallery this way]

This Week's Top Stories: The week started off well with superb new renderings of Downtown's under-construction Wilshire Grand tower showing the rooftop pool and sky lobby. Happy downtowners later took to the street in choreographed song and dance when GQ Magazine declared Downtown LA the Coolest Downtown in America and/or the Next Great American City. The excitement continued for Downtown LA with the opening of the Ace Hotel in the long dormant United Artist Theater on Broadway. Meanwhile in Hollywood, a new map shows a big stupid fault runs through the neighborhood and NIMBY lawyer Robert Silverstein probably got a boner over it. In Inglewood, the recently renovated Forum has a giant spinning record on top in honor of The Eagles who will be the first act to play the reopened venue. Beloved comedienne Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi have purchased The Brody House in Holmby Hills, which Curbed declares the best house in LA. It's a new year and a good time to get some exercise and see celebrities in the wild, so please follow our guide to popular hiking trails around Los Angeles.
