Air monitors at Vernon battery recycler Exide picked up elevated lead levels AGAIN this week. They attribute the spike in lead in the air to a "one-time construction project," but this is third time its happened in the last year. In October, Exide reached a settlement with the state that allowed them to stay open while they installed $7.7 million-worth of stuff they probably should have already had to prevent them from poisoning neighboring communities. Good call on letting these guys stay open. [LA Times]
