The Arts District is booming--the only things it doesn't have are some trees and parking. And now the area's biggest new development, the Michael Matlzan-designed One Santa Fe, is quickly coming to fruition. The SCI-Arc-adjacent project is short and long--a quarter-mile to be exact--with a section that floats above the sidewalk. When it's finished in about a year, One Santa Fe will include more than 430 units and 80,000 square feet of retail, along with a park and theater. The project is also very close to the maintenance yard for the Red and Purple Line Subways--the structure looks like a train car--and Metro and others have long discussed an extension to the Arts District, since it wouldn't require much more than a new platform and station amenities.
