Buy the Penthouse Condo With "Prohibition Bar" in Koreatown's Historic French Chateau

New, 15 comments

Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #815, Koreatown's French Chateau Apartments was designed by architect Arlos Sedgley in 1937 and converted to condos in 2007. Now up for grabs is one of the largest units in the 10-unit complex. A two-level penthouse on the top floor, the 2,002-square-foot apartment comes with three bedrooms, two baths, hardwood floors, crown moldings, beautiful vintage tile, wood-paneled wainscoting, central A/C, a Miele washer/dryer, and three side-by-side secure parking spaces. The listing also mentions a "prohibition bar," which doesn't make a whole lot of sense seeing as Prohibition ended four years before the Chateau was built, but it sounds pretty cool nonetheless. Last sold in 2008 for $745,000, it's now asking $790,000, along with the monthly HOA fees of $401.
