Watch 4 Major Los Angeles Projects Being Built in Real Time

New, 11 comments

Greater Los Angeles is in a bit of a building boom these days, with cranes and city planners working overtime. For anyone obsessed with watching some of the latest giant projects come to life, there are now at least four with cameras pointed at them at all hours. Downtown has at least two construction cameras tracking work--one is fixed on the Marriott Courtyard/Marriott Residence Inn tower going up near LA Live and the other is up on Bunker Hill watching the work at The Broad art museum. The double Marriott camera shows that construction is just about done, but there's still work to do on the street-level restaurant, lobby entrance, and pool. Meanwhile, the three-story Broad will soon be sheathed in its "veil," which should be interesting to watch.

In Hollywood, the massive Blvd6200 mixed-user has a construction cam that can be moved left and right, up and down, as well as zoomed. Most of the project seems to have topped out.

Finally, in Santa Monica, a camera is fixed at Fourth and Colorado, site of the Downtown Santa Monica Expo Line station. There's a lot of dirt being moved right now, but the actual emergence of the station, which will include an "esplanade" and lots of landscaping, should be quite a thing to see.
