Mapping Los Angeles's 53 Most Dangerous Intersections

New, 34 comments

As Los Angeles tries to make its most dangerous crossings a little safer (and New Girl makes them more existentially fraught), KPCC is working to map all the scariest intersections in the city, according to both city data and reports from the streets. The green dots above are the city's 53 High Pedestrian-Related Collision Intersections, and marked as high priority for safety improvements (first step: continental crosswalks); below you'll find maps with the intersections pedestrians find least safe (blue dots) and the ones bikers find least safe (red dots). And here are the five most dangerous intersections in LA, according to the city's data:

5. Spring Street at Fifth Street: 19 vehicle/pedestrian accidents in the last five years
4. Union Avenue at Sixth Street: 19 vehicle/pedestrian accidents in the last five years
3. Western Avenue at Slauson Avenue: 19 vehicle/pedestrian accidents in the last five years
2. Hollywood Boulevard at Highland Avenue: 21 vehicle/pedestrian accidents in the last five years
1. Alvarado Street at Seventh Street: 25 vehicle/pedestrian accidents in the last five years
