SaMo's Post Office May Have Found Its Own Producer To Save It

New, 14 comments

Hollywood's must-have accessory this fall? An old post office. Variety's reporting that film producer David Ellison, son of half-of-Malibu-owning billionaire Larry Ellison and producer/Bird-Streets-compound-owner Megan Ellison, is in talks to buy downtown Santa Monica's WPA-era post office building. The US Postal Service shut the facility down earlier this year and Santa Monica just hammered out an agreement to ensure that whoever wound up with the building would have to preserve it. If the deal goes through, Ellison would be the second producer to set up shop at a Westside PO. Last year, Die Hard producer Joel Silver blazed the trail when he bought and began restorations on Venice's 1939 post office, an arrangement that seems to have worked out well for everyone. It takes three to make a trend--who's going to be next?
