California Coastal Commission Rebuffed

New, 14 comments

The California State Assembly yesterday killed a measure that would have granted the California Coastal Commission new authority to impose fines on violators. That means that the CCC will still have to go to court to collect penalties if, for instance, your property blocks public access to the beach in violation of the California Coastal Act. The CCC was hoping to issue fines to help clear its backlog of more than 1,900 enforcement cases. [LA Times]
