Boy, things have been so tough in Beverly Hills that a few years ago they had to lay off their official greeter, who for 11 years wore a red coat and top hat and told tourists "Welcome to Beverly Hills! You have arrived!" Now that greeter (a Santa Monican, ex-child-actor, and former Bob Hope valet) has re-donned the get-up and taken his "You have arrived!" bit to Hollywood Boulevard, where there are a lot more tourists but the sentiment remains equally hollow.
