Today's fracking of the bottomless mine that is Craigslist unearths this posting for a "large, historic apartment for rent in the Angelino Heights Historic District of Echo Park." The apartment in question is located inside Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #221, aka the Jesse Hall Residence. As the invaluable Big Orange Landmarks explains, the Eastlake-style building is one of two identical houses built by local contractor John M. Skinner in 1887, at a cost of $6,000 each. Per the ad, the unit up for lease occupies the duplex's second floor "(1,700+ square feet)" plus its attic space, also approximately 1,700 square feet and "used by previous tenants as living area/work space/office/artist-music studio." Alas, the ad is bereft of photos, but features noted in the description include hardwood floors, multiple built-in dressers, a clawfoot tub, a Murphy bed, a sun porch, a dishwasher, laundry room with washer/dryer, storage room, and backyard with barbecue. Monthly rent for the pet-friendly apartment is $3,000.
