Daytime Trucking Ban?

New, 52 comments

The 1984 LA Olympics remains legendary in many minds, in part because the city enacted a brilliant traffic plan that eradicated congestion nightmares. Steve Adams, a Riverside councilmember running for Congress, wants to revive part of LA's Olympic plan for California's urban centers, namely banning large long-haul truck deliveries during the day (it was voluntary during the Olympics). Adams believes truckers would be happy with the plan--since they'd operate more efficiently by traveling during non-peak hours--but a similar plan in the nineties was opposed by the trucking industry.
