Rupert Murdoch Paid $28.8MM For Vineyard Property in Bel Air

Perhaps Australian propagandist Rupert Murdoch was too busy dealing with personal and professional issues (a divorce, the Brian Lewis scandal) to focus on getting a good deal on the Moraga Vineyards property in Bel Air--it was listed for $29.5 million in February and he's just about to close for $28.8 million. That's not the ruthless Murdoch we know! Anyway, Moraga's nice and everything--it was built by Wizard of Oz director Victor Fleming and comes with a three-bedroom main house, a guesthouse, an office building, a wine cave, a winery, and acres and acres of commercial vineyards (it also comes with "about $4 million of wine inventory," according to the Wall Street Journal, so there's that.). Murdoch went into escrow way back in April; the sale took so long because of something having to do with liquor licenses. Murdoch plans to continue winemaking on the property, and is "excited" about it, according to the listing agent. Meanwhile, rumors swirl that Leonardo DiCaprio is eyeing Murdoch's property on Angelo Drive in Beverly Hills.
