Improving the Awful Walk From Union Station to the Civic

New, 101 comments

As beautiful as Union Station is, it remains somewhat separated from the heart of Downtown by the vehicular moat known as the 101. The city is working to ease the pedestrian connection between the train station and the Civic Center by widening the sidewalks on the freeway overcrossing, according to city docs linked to on SkyscraperPage. But they're also adding art! There are already large gray arches that rise on Los Angeles Street's westerly sidewalk between the 101 southbound off-ramp and the Pueblo--similar arches are being installed over North Main Street's widened easterly sidwalk. The $2-million project should wrap up in March.
