LA City Councilmember Paul Koretz wants to raise the legal cigarette-buying age in Los Angeles from 18 to 21, although "it's unclear whether the city has the authority to approve such a law." Koretz tried to pass a similar, statewide law when he was in the Assembly; it failed. The proposal is probably mostly exciting for oldsters who might end up getting carded for a few more years. [SCPR]
