Kobe Bryant Selling Off Super-Gated McMansion in Newport

New, 52 comments

Laker Kobe Bryant is selling off a mansion in a gated community in Newport Coast, but don't even sweat it like he's leaving town or something--he's got a (bigger) spare right nearby. (Also he's running on an anti-gravity treadmill! So that's good!) Bryant and wife Vanessa are getting rid of a very beige McMansion in the Pelican Ridge Estates and let's just get to the important stuff: it has a library with a shark tank in it (not pictured for some reason!?!). And now the rest of it: the two-story house was built in 1997 and the Bryants picked it up in 2001, according to Real Estalker. It has four bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, a limestone-bedecked foyer, an 850-square-foot gym, a hair salon, a theater with lobby and wetbar, a master with sitting room, a pool and spa, firepit, and outdoor kitchen. The listing also notes that it is "Set behind massive private gates in a prestigious guard gated community," because those Newport buyers are apparently a very anxious bunch. The Bryants are asking $8.599 million for the house in Pelican Ridge (homeowners fees are $651 per month) and moving over to their place in nearby and also-gated Pelican Crest. Jesus, Newport is lame.
