Work began in September on the first phase of K2LA, developer Century West Partners's three-building, 478-unit complex near the Wilshire/Vermont subway station. Now the second and third phases are about to start, according to the builder: "Cobalt [Construction Company] will begin grading and engineering for the second and third buildings, at 680 Berendo and 685 New Hampshire, on September 1" (the first building is on 688 Berendo). The buildings should all be open for tenants in about two years. The high-end apartment buildings will offer fitness centers, business centers, rooftop spas, outdoor decks with grilling areas, and fancy countertops and appliances.
