Beverly Hills High parents shelled out hundreds of dollars each to put their kids through the Beverly Hills Sports Academy at the school this summer, having been "encouraged to enroll their children to get a leg up in making sports teams during the school year." One mom (Rebecca De Mornay!) says the principal even talked it up at a ninth-grade orientation. And it turns out that that's because he founded and owns the Academy, which is actually a for-profit business and not a school-sponsored program and has nothing to do with actually making a sports team at the school.
