Tom Petty's Post-Arson House in Encino For Sale For First Time

New, 39 comments

Back in 1987, Tom Petty and his family were eating breakfast at their house in Encino when an arsonist set fire to a wooden staircase; according to a news report at the time, Petty's basement recording studio was the only area spared, and the house's top floor was completely gutted. The Pettys rebuilt--in the never-popular late-eighties Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired Big Bear cabin style--and now a few decades later the house has hit the market for the first time (ex Jane Petty is listed as the owner). It sits on .87 acres and comes with five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a three-car garage, a crescent-shaped dining room, a two-story fireplace, a gym/yoga room, a sauna, a covered patio, and a pool and spa. Asking price is $3.575 million.
