ARTS DISTRICT: The sizzling Arts District is getting a big new event restaurant with The Factory Kitchen, an Italian concept that will take over a former fish factory. The dining room will be 3,000 square feet, with eventual brunch, lunch, and dinner service, likely in the fall.

ECHO PARK: Valerie Confections is just days away from opening in the former Delilah's space on Echo Park Avenue. The space looks just charming, with outdoor seating and $2 coffees. Valerie's sweets, treats, and brews are already for sale in DTLA's Grand Central Market.

SANTA MONICA: DTLA stalwart Water Grill has expanded its empire, opening a new WG on Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica. The Westside Water Grill is spacious, with a central drinking bar and a smaller raw bar, plus oyster shucking station. Lunch service is already a go.
