Woohoo! Pedal boats will return to the newly-reopened Echo Park Lake on July 20, and a few weeks after that East Hollywood's Square One Dining will open a cafe out of the boathouse. The two concessions will operate as part of a 90-day pilot while the city works to nail down a permanent arrangement for the two concessions, says Eastsider LA. The new operator wrote on its Facebook page earlier this month that "the City has operated at a loss with it and we are going to try to do a bit better than breaking even. I gambling on the outrigger canoe rides and Gondola to help. The park is beautiful, and the neighbors I've met seem very positive!"
