Today and tomorrow, President Obama will be meeting with Chinese President Xi Jingping ("to discuss cybercrime, North Korea and more," according to NBC News) at Rancho Mirage's incredible Sunnylands estate. The spread, designed by the great modernist A. Quincy Jones, was built in the 1960s by philanthropists Walter and Leonore Annenberg and has been called the West Coast Camp David--it's hosted seven US presidents, Queen Elizabeth II, and a Sinatra wedding (they had one of those at Camp David, right?). The main house is an enormous 25,000 square feet with interiors by Billy Haines and Ted Graber, and is accompanied by a golf course, 200 acres of grounds, and a recently-opened visitors center designed by locals Frederick Fisher & Partners. Intrepid Curbed photog Elizabeth Daniels toured the entire estate as it opened to the public last year; enjoy this very thorough look through just about everything on the property.
