West LA residents are outraged and horrified this week to find that the city is leaving on the lights: 224 streetlights "were left on during the day in an area bordered by Santa Monica Boulevard to the north, Beverly Glen to the east, Pico Boulevard to the south and Overland to the west." Turns out a circuit blew out last month so the lights have to stay either on or off for now. Neighbors say they're annoyed at the waste of energy and also "the wasted time they spent reporting it to DWP and the city." No help for that, is there? [CBS LA]
