Scandalized Reviewer: Century Plaza a "Hooker Convention"

New, 30 comments

The Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Century City is one of Los Angeles's classiest hotels--it's hosted dignitaries from everywhere and Ronald Reagan stayed there frequently when he was president. But several TripAdvisorers, who accidentally attended during something called Playboy Golf, beg to disagree. Here is one of their stories, via a review titled "Awful! It looked like a hooker convention - trashy trashy trashy!":

I, too, was there during the "playboy golf convention." They put signs just under each entrance door, so you were walking INTO the Playboy center - not into they Hyatt Regency Centruy Plaza. I spent a lot of money to stay at the HYATT, not at Playboy.?? There were what appeared to be a hundred scantily clad young girls in the lobby, the elevators, and the hallways. We couldn't go anywhere without seeing young girls in their underwear - literally. I agree with the reviewer who said that families looked horrified - I saw the same thing and I was embarassed for the parents who had to explain what was going on to their children. There were drunk middle-aged beer-bellied men comparing their assigned women (they must have been assigned one for each man). We ate at the hotel restaurant each morning and had to eat next to a daily discussion of whether the men had ... well you know ... with the women at the parties the night before. It was DISGUSTING.

The hotel allowed the parties to go on each night in the lobby, out front, and at the pool area in the back. There was no quiet area anywhere. We got NO sleep during this time. The men and women were drunk and loud. The parties began around 7 pm and lasted until about 2 am. Some people got into busses to go to other locations - when they did so, they were yelling and cat-calling in the early hours of the morning.?? We will NEVER stay at this hotel again and it will be a long time before I stay at another Hyatt. I believe any other convention/conference would have met in the hotel's meeting areas and I believe any other convention/conference would not have been allowed to have a pajama/underwear party in the lobby at 8 pm.
