LA's 3 Biggest Home Sales Of The Past Week: Schwarzenegger's Affair House and More

New, 7 comments

Listed for: $13.9 million
Listed on: February 16, 2013 (though it's been on and off the market since 2008)
Sold for: $12.9 million
Size: Nine beds and nine and a half baths in 10,000 square feet. The estate sits on 2.5 acres.
Location: 14209 Evans Road, Pacific Palisades
The Lowdown: The nine bedrooms aren't all under one roof--there are two guest suites plus a guest house in addition to six bedrooms in the big house. Which is perhaps relevant when you consider that this house was owned by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver "during the time period in which the housekeeper he carried on an affair with became pregnant," according to Forbes. There are "magnificent public rooms, including step-down living room with high-beamed ceilings/projection room, and gourmet kitchen with commercial appliances" inside, and a pool and tennis court in addition to landscaped gardens out. If the 2.5 acres of "park-like grounds" isn't enough for you, the house has direct access to actual park Will Rogers.

Listed for: $5.9 million
Listed on: October 2, 2012
Sold for: $5.085 million
Size: Six beds and seven bathrooms in 5,500 square feet set on just over an acre.
Location: 15501 Milldale Drive, Bel Air
The Lowdown: The "aura" of this two year old architectural house is "Zen and retreat-like- a perfect mix of classic modernism with complete comfort," in case you were wondering. Surrounded by mature trees, trails, and a pool and vegetable garden, the listing touts the house's automation and the quality of the imported hardwood. Add it all together and you've got the second biggest residential sale of the week.

Listed for: $5.499 million
Listed on: February 22, 2013
Sold for: $4.785 million
Size: Four bedrooms, seven bathrooms in 5,111 square feet on a little over half an acre.
Location: 1308 Laurel Way, Beverly Hills
The Lowdown: This house's "old world Tuscan charm" has stood the test of not quite a decade already. Will it last another? With a pool, "magical garden areas" loggia, barbecue area, outdoor fireplace, and a couple of fire pits, it's got plenty of opportunities for outdoor entertaining. Inside there's a "great room, grand foyer, formal living room and dining room," and a walk-in wine cellar. It offered "INCREDIBLE VALUE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" according to the very excited listing, but is not a thing of great beauty.
