Inside the Rehab of a 1970s Geodesic Dome in Eagle Rock

This abandoned geodesic dome owned by a Montessori school in Eagle Rock is looking pretty great as its much needed makeover starts to wrap up. Built from a kit by the school's owners in the 1970s, it's been unused for years and the school was considering tearing it down before deciding to glam it up for classroom and community space with the help of Silver Lake-based architect M+. Eastsider says the project is about eight weeks away from completion, and the year-long renovation has included a new roof and skylights on the outside; inside "the geometric panels of the dome are now sheathed in strips of wood and the floor is now a bright shade of orange."
