The owner of the Midtown Shopping Plaza at Venice, Pico, and San Vicente boulevards--across from CIM's Midtown Crossing--recently paid $42.5 million for the 11 acres underneath their retail center, plus 3.5 acres next to it. The plaza already houses a Ralphs and an OSH hardware store. "I rebuilt this property after it was destroyed in the 1992 LA Riots as I have always had total confidence in the future of this community and its residents," James R. Young, one of the owners, said in a statement. "This is a rapidly growing area of the city that is vastly underserved by retail standards." [Larchmont Buzz]
