Earlier this week, Santa Monica hosted a "community workshop" to talk about planning and development in the city, but the 300-plus people in attendance mostly used it as a five-hour bitch session over various development plans, including ones for the Fairmont Miramar Hotel and the Frank Gehry-designed mixed-user/museum. Sample: "A paraphrased attempt to analogize overdevelopment--'The bathtub's overflowing and it's damaging the bathroom and the door is closed and there's a dead cat inside.'" [LAObserved]
