The 1961 Linn House, by modern titan Richard Neutra, came on the market in early 2012 with very few listing photos and a note that "Many original Neutra details make this home a wonderful opportunity to restore ...." It sold (above asking) in March 2012 for $1.253 million and the buyer appears to have taken the listing's suggestion--the house, which sits on Mulholland near Torreyson, is now up for rent on Craigslist looking to be in pretty good shape (and sporting some intense bathroom marble, although that's neither here nor there). In fact, the listing says it's "in perfect condition." In his book Richard Neutra and the Search for Modern Architecture, Thomas Hines writes that the Linn is one of Neutra's "post and beam boxcars," built in a style the architect developed in the '50s and '60s. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a separate one/one "guest" (unclear if that's suite or house or what), and a pool. Rent is $12,500 per month.
