Writer and garden enthusiast Max Brooks, son of Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft, has taken up his mother's hobby: "It seems Ms. Bancroft, in addition to being a beautiful movie star, loved getting her hands in the dirt .... At the home where Max spent his adolescence in Santa Monica, she built a spectacular terraced garden, lit so she could tend it night.
