The TGTF (too glam to function) area of West Hollywood, where super-upscale furniture stores, art galleries, and couture shops converge around Robertson, Beverly, and Melrose, is changing its name from the wordy The Avenues: Art, Fashion & Design District to simply The West Hollywood Design District. The Avenues moniker came about in 1996 in an attempt to brand the clustered collection of retail and encourage tourism. WHDD Board Chair Darren Gold says in a statement, "The new name conveys where we are and what we are about in a clear and concise way." [WeHo News]
