Ace Hotels, Urban Outfitters, and now a Palihouse hotel for Downtown: The LA Business Journal (sub. req.) reports that the owners of a 13-story Fashion District building have sold it to a Chinese company, and are planning on using the proceeds to convert a four-story mixed-use building at Flower and Pico into a new hotel with a groundfloor bar. Local developer Paligroup operates hotels under either the Palihouse or Palihotel name in West Hollywood, Beverly Grove, and Santa Monica; however, it's not clear if the owner, 833 S. Spring LLC, is affiliated with Palihouse or is bringing in the chain just to operate the hotel. Regardless, the South Park Palihouse will be catty-corner from the Pico station of the Blue and Expo Lines--so expect triple-enforced windows thanks to those train horns--and across from a proposed mixed-user. Updated 6/28: A rep for Paligroup tells us there's no Palihouse headed for Downtown; they have no idea how the rumor got started.
