Officials in the Inland Empire will not be sorry to see the back of LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa when his term comes to an end next month; he's been a staunch opponent in their bid for local control over the Ontario airport. Rather, "for the first time since transfer negotiations for LA/Ontario International started late last year, [Ontario Councilman Alan] Wapner said he is optimistic about the battle for local control. The biggest difference, he said, will be that [Mayor-Elect Eric] Garcetti will make himself more accessible to the Inland Empire delegation pushing for local control." [DB]
