Meryl Streep Buys Honnold & Rex Research House in the Hills

New, 13 comments

Meryl Streep is generally an East Coaster, but the ever-wonderful Real Estalker hears she's picked up a place in the Hollywood Hills--that place happens to be Architectural Products's 1954 Research House, which was originally designed by Honnold & Rex and recently majorly remodeled by Xorin Balbes. The house hit the market in October 2012 asking $5.995 million and Streep and sculptor husband Don Gummer (or the trust associated with their known real estate) seem to have gotten a good deal: they paid $4.5 million in early February. The house comes with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a "completely customizable audio and security system [that] can be controlled from your Smart phone or computer," a pool, a "direct access, specially ventilated garage" with "special deionized water ? available for your detailer." Word is it's actually singer/songwriter son Henry Gummer who's living in the house.
