The Case-Shiller index, which compares sale prices of like-for-like houses, can sometimes feel a little anti-climactic, since it comes out about six weeks after its competitor DataQuick, but the March numbers are still pretty striking: in LA, the home price index was up 2.3 percent over February and 16.6 percent over March 2012. That puts LA well above the 20-city average--10.9 percent increase over the previous year--and LA is one of seven cities that posted its highest month-on-month gains since 2006. Go Los Angeles! Maybe?
